Why was wealth distribution chosen as a priority value?
- Important component of Metlakatla’s social cohesion and overall health and well-being
- Major projects could contribute to income disparity among Metlakatla members as some individuals gain access to employment and others do not
Indicators
The condition indicator for wealth distribution is the income equality ratio. Wealth distribution is affected by a range of key stressors including post-training job placement rate, employment rate, income levels and distributions to the membership. We recently revisited Metlakatla’s priorities around the wealth distribution value and an income-based indicator was included as a condition indicator.
